Hydrogen is a gas that acts as a reducing agent in the chemical and metal industries for the synthesis of ammonia, petrol, methanol and steel. Hydrogen is also a green fuel that reacts spontaneously with oxygen and provides mechanical energy with a heat engine or electricity with an electrolytic fuel cell. The beauty of hydrogen reacting with oxygen is that water is the byproduct and there is no CO2 emission. When green hydrogen, produced from water and green electricity through electrolysis, gets cheaper than the gray hydrogen coming from the fossil sources (methane or coal), there will be a revolution and we will speak about a global hydrogen economy. It is just a matter of time.
